I initially painted Grace Jones a few years ago because she has such a strong, androgynous, powerful presence. I fell in love with this image of her and I felt the need to challenge myself to do more. I gained inspiration from local Tampa clothing designer, Jolie Dopa, who uses gems to accent many of her clothing pieces. While a tedious job, the individually-placed gems sparkle and pull in the viewer from across any room. This piece is sure to exude class when hanging under the perfect lighting.
